Toyota Center is a three-minute walk away, so you can take your time. Settle in for coastal cooking from Baja and Alta California, then stroll over for tip-off or the opening act.

Plan your night

  • The walk: about 3 minutes to Toyota Center and 9 minutes to Daikin Park.
  • When to book: about two hours before tip-off, first pitch or showtime.
  • Dinner hours: Monday–Thursday 3–9 PM, Friday–Saturday 3–10 PM, Sunday 3–9 PM.
  • Parking: valet on La Branch ($11 Monday–Saturday, complimentary on Sunday). There's also a lot across La Branch from $8 an hour, and the attached garage at $25 an hour.

Game nights

On Rockets and Astros home-game nights, happy hour runs until game time. Every other day, it's 3–6 PM.

Concert nights

Dinner at Zaranda makes an easy start to a show at Toyota Center. Book ahead on show nights, leave the car with the valet, and walk over.

Where you'll sit

Ballena Bar at Zaranda, under its whale-tail ceiling

Start on the patio overlooking the park, or at Ballena Bar, named for the dramatic whale-tail design that sweeps across the ceiling. Chef Hugo Ortega's kitchen draws on the coastal flavors of Las Californias, alongside the largest Mexican wine list in the country.

Bringing a group?

Altamar, the mezzanine-level private dining room overlooking Discovery Green, seats 80. Bajamar seats 30.

Zaranda is not affiliated with the Houston Rockets, the Houston Astros, Toyota Center or any performer.
